Second session starts Oct. 22

Good morning,

Just wanted to remind everyone our second session of workshops will begin Tuesday, October 22 and run through Tuesday, November 19. We will meet only five weeks this time because of a scheduling conflict with the library.

I'm posting the names of writers who RSVP'd for the second session. If you're still planning on attending, great! If your plans have changed, please let me know so I can open up a seat for another writer.

St. Mary's Express - Sold Out!

Bad news or good news first? The bad news is all St. Mary's Express excursions are sold out next Saturday, October 12. Sorry!

The good news is there's a Santa Express (really the same St. Mary's Express) running on Saturday, November 23, Saturday, November 30 and Saturday, December 7. Excursions leave at 10a.m., 12p.m., 2p.m. and 4p.m on those days.

This is what the web site says about the Santa Express...

"Celebrate the holidays with Santa in an old-fashioned Christmas ride through woods and marshlands. Great entertainment along the way. The perfect excursion to get you into the holiday spirit."

As for the group discount, we can get $2.00 off per ticket by entering a code (I put it in the e-mail)  when purchasing tickets online.

Hello, writers,

I hope you’re enjoying our short break. The next six-week session of workshops will begin Tuesday, October 22.

 I’ve been working on a couple of newspaper stories. I hope to finish the second one tomorrow. It is about a Northside family who gathers extra fruit from trees and farms and donates it to homeless shelters and churches. 

What are you working on?

At our last workshop, I mentioned a field trip. Here are the details:

On Saturday, October 12, the St. Mary’s Express (a train) will offer four excursions-at 10a.m., 12p.m., 2p.m., and 4p.m. The train ride begins at Theater by the Trax in St. Mary’s and travels into the nearby woods and marshlands.  

Tickets run $17 for adults, $11 for kids 3-12 and free for kids 2 or under. If we can get 10 or more people to go, we can get a discount on our tickets. I thought the 2p.m. excursion might work best because everyone could have their Saturday morning and Saturday evening with a fun event planned in the afternoon.

So, if you are interested in going on the train ride, please send me an e-mail with the following information:

    -Your name and number in your party

    -Time you prefer (10a.m., 12p.m., 2p.m. or 4p.m.)

    -Whether you’d like to carpool from Callahan to St. Mary’s and back
